Mako SmartRobotics™ is an innovative solution for many suffering from painful arthritis of the knee or hip. The Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System uses a virtual 3D model allowing surgeons to create a personalized surgical plan for each patient before entering the operating room. The model is created with CT scans of the patient’s joint, which helps identify the implant size, orientation, and alignment based on each patient’s unique anatomy. In the operating room, the surgeon is able to make any necessary adjustments to the surgical plan to ensure optimal outcomes.

The Mako system has been available in Central Oregon at St. Charles Health System since 2017. The joint replacement surgeons at The Center are proud to offer the same advanced technology for patients unable to schedule surgery in the hospital due to COVID-19 delays or who elect to have their joint replacement performed on an outpatient basis.
